About
The ICT industry is a global market and the Australian ICT industry faces many challenges that relate in part to both our size and the threat from overseas competitors.
Within the Illawarra, the ICT sector is predominately comprised of small businesses and a cluster is an ideal way for these businesses to work together without reducing their independence, entrepreneurial spirit or individual competitiveness.
The purpose of the Illawarra ICT Cluster is to support the local ICT industry by building on our local strengths and encouraging the ongoing economic health and development of the ICT industry in the Illawarra region.
We will achieve this by:
- Promoting the success stories from within the local ICT industry;
- Nurturing new entrants to the local ICT industry;
- Identifying emerging trends within the global ICT industry;
- Providing resources to member organisation to facilitate business growth;
- Managing the ICT Illawarra brand;
- Helping the local ICT industry to keep ICT work within the region, attract new work to the region and grow new business beyond the region;
- Fostering social capital within the local ICT industry that will enable opportunities for collaboration and joint ventures to emerge;
- Developing the knowledge of the local ICT industry to meet the needs of new and emerging ICT trends; and
- Providing a forum for the local ICT industry to engage with key local resources (such as the University of Wollongong and TAFE), other community and industry stakeholders, both public and private (for example local council and the Illawarra Business Chamber), and national and international ICT industry stakeholders.
